Managing Stress
Are you irritable? Do you find it difficult to sleep? Are you struggling to concentrate or complete tasks? Do you…
At Breathe Counselling Perth, our trauma counsellors and psychologists understand that healing is not about forgetting what happened. It is about reclaiming your sense of safety, reconnecting with yourself, and rediscovering your strength. Using evidence-based approaches including EMDR, somatic (body-based) therapies, and trauma-informed counselling, our experienced team offers a safe, non-judgemental space where you can process your experiences at your own pace.
Trauma therapy is available across Perth, including the CBD, West Perth, Joondalup, Rockingham, Midland, and Mandurah, with flexible daytime and after-hours appointments. If getting to a clinic is difficult, online counselling gives you the same expert support from the comfort of home.
When your mind and body face overwhelming stress beyond what you can cope with, your nervous system responds by trying to protect you. That protective response can continue long after the danger has passed, which is why trauma often shows up in the present, sometimes years after the event.
You might recognise some of these experiences:
These reactions are not signs of weakness or failure. They are evidence of your survival. Trauma counselling helps you understand them and gently guides your nervous system back toward safety and calm.
Trauma takes many forms, and no two people carry it the same way. Our team supports clients through:
You do not need a formal PTSD diagnosis to benefit from trauma counselling. If trauma is affecting how you live, work, or relate to others, support can help.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well-researched approach for trauma and PTSD. It helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their intensity and stop intruding on the present. Importantly, EMDR does not require you to describe the trauma in detail, which many people find a relief. Several of our Perth and online counsellors are trained in EMDR and can talk you through whether it suits your situation.
Our trauma counsellors and psychologists bring extensive training, professional qualifications, and genuine compassion to their work. They understand that reaching out takes real courage, especially when trauma has taught you that people are not always safe.
We offer flexible appointment times, including after-hours sessions, across multiple Perth locations and online. Whether you are in the CBD, the northern suburbs, the southern suburbs, or regional Western Australia, trauma support is within reach. Most of all, we believe in your capacity to heal. Trauma may have changed you, but it does not have to define you. With the right support, you can reclaim your safety, reconnect with the people who matter, and rediscover the strength that trauma tried to take.
Trauma counselling moves at your pace, with safety and choice at the centre:
You do not have to wait until things feel unbearable to ask for help. If you are ready to take the first step, our team is here when you are. Book an appointment at a Perth clinic or online, or call us on 0422 275 494 to talk through the right fit for you.
