What can I expect if I see one of your therapists for counselling? +

Our Counsellors offer individual, couples and family counselling from our clinic in Mandurah. We also offer Online sessions.

Our counsellors have a genuine and obvious compassion. They will intentionally create a counselling space with you, where safety and respect is primary.

In the first session, your counsellor will work with you to ascertain your hopes and expectations from therapy and develop a plan to make the most of your appointments.

What you share is confidential, and you will not be judged. You should be able to feel comfortable being open and vulnerable.

What happens in counselling? +

A counselling session can involve the following:

  • Disclosure about what is happening for you in life and why you sought counselling
  • Discussing, exploring and understanding thoughts, emotions, behaviour and relationships
  • Psychoeducation- learning skills that assist in coping, growing and healing
  • Applying therapeutic techniques that help to manage or alleviate stress or pain.
What if I think couples counselling might help, but my partner isn't interested? +

This is extremely common. The best way to deal with this is:

  • Don’t try to push your partner into it. Try to be patient and understanding. They may be frightened or may have had a bad experience with counselling. There are many reasons why people don’t want to get counselling.
  • Try individual counselling. Just because your partner isn’t there, doesn’t mean you can’t work on your relationship. Remember that you cant fix, control or change other people, but you can work on yourself.
  • Explore other ways of healing your relationship (ie retreats, podcasts etc)
