Karen offers face to counselling and psychotherapy to individuals over 18 to older age, and clinical supervision for individuals and groups. She is a compassionate, authentic and seasoned therapist with over 35 years of clinical experience. Karen is committed to giving her clients an opportunity to feel safe, understood and respected. Her approach incorporates openness and transparency and is informed by a balance of professionalism and lived, personal experience.

In both private and community sectors Karen continues to focus on adapting to the uniqueness of each person and their life journey. This is applicable whether it is because of childhood trauma or life changing events. She has extensive experience in mental health and complex post traumatic disorders, particularly where there are symptoms of depression, anxiety or addiction, affecting quality of life or relationships. Additionally, Karen focuses on and validates systemic and cultural impacts on individuals and families. Her commitment to professional development and ongoing learning reinforces an evolving experience of being heard, trusted and supported in the counselling process. She acknowledges the courage it takes for people to reach out, to discover and speak their truth and explore their intrinsic challenges.

Karen’s counselling approach is person centered. Her skills and training being informed by Gestalt, Existential and Social Justice perspectives. She holds a Master of Counselling and Human Services and views her role as a counsellor as a privilege, a valuable opportunity to foster hope, connection, and openness to the future.
