Gentle, somatic breathwork to help you slow down, regulate your nervous system,
and reconnect with your body and emotions.

Breathwork at Breathe Counselling

Life in Flow is an accredited breathwork service offered through Breathe Counselling, led by Joanna Gwynn, a qualified Breathwork Practitioner trained in somatic and trauma-informed practice.

Life in Flow sessions are a complementary wellbeing practice that works beautifully alongside a counselling journey, or as a standalone support for those seeking nervous system regulation and emotional release. Sessions are gentle enough for children.

Sessions are grounded in counselling principles and nervous system education, creating a safe and supported space to pause, breathe, and reset.

What is Somatic Breathwork?

Somatic breathwork uses intentional breathing patterns to access and release emotions, tension, and stress stored in the body. Unlike more intense breathwork modalities, Life in Flow is gentle, slow, and deeply supportive.

At Breathe Counselling we know that one breathwork session can help a client to feel more relaxed and calmer, but the real breakthrough is in the series of appointments.  Over time, gentle breathwork supports calming neurotransmitters, improved mood balance, and reduced stress sensitivity.

Life in Flow was created as a series of at least five sessions, each focussing on a different area.

Reminder: breathwork should never feel forced. If breathing feels uncomfortable or overwhelming, it's okay to stop and return to your normal breathing.

This is not about pushing through or forcing an experience. It’s about creating safety, steadiness, and space.

Somatic breathwork can help you to:

  • Release trauma and emotion held in the body
  • Rewire unhelpful emotional responses
  • Feel more grounded, open-hearted, and present
  • Reduce anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
  • Feel less stuck and more alive

How Breathwork Complements Counselling

Many of our counselling clients find breathwork a powerful addition to their therapeutic journey. While counselling works with the mind and narrative, breathwork works directly with the body - accessing emotional material that talk therapy alone may not reach.

If you are already working with one of our counsellors or psychologists, Life in Flow sessions with Joanna can support your progress between appointments.

If you’re not yet in counselling but are curious about support for anxiety, stress, or emotional wellbeing, breathwork can be a gentle first step. You can always explore counselling services when you feel ready.
