Counselling
Some counsellors at Breathe Counselling can offer Health Insurance rebates through Medibank, AHM, ARHG, Police and Bupa Health Funds. Please ask your counsellor if they can offer a rebate.
Psychology
If you are seeing a psychologist at Breathe Counselling, you may be eligible to receive Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Care Plan.
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), also known as a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), is a specific and structured support plan that you may access through a referral from your GP. This allows you to receive subsidised psychology sessions through Medicare, making professional mental health support more affordable and accessible.
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is designed to help support your mental health through psychological services. It includes a personal and specific assessment of your mental health and a relevant treatment strategy, supported by your GP. A Mental Health Care Plan gives you access to Medicare rebates for psychology sessions, helping lower the cost of therapy.
Under the Better Access government initiative, eligible Australians can receive rebates for up to 10 individual therapy sessions per calendar year with a registered psychologist. Whilst sessions aren’t free, they are subsidised significantly. If you see a Registered Psychologist, you will get back $98.95
STEPS TO SEEING A PSYCHOLOGIST AT BREATHE COUNSELLING THROUGH A MENTAL HEALTH CARE PLAN
1. Book an appointment with your GP. Receive a MHCP from your GP for a referral for 6 sessions with a psychologist (you can use this anywhere in Australia)
2. Book an appointment with your psychologist and attend 6 sessions
3. If needed, book another appointment with your GP and receive a MHCP for another 4 sessions with your psychologist
